YOUNG HANDLERS COMPETITION Judge: Mrs V C Mills - Crediton, Devon. Judging: Thursday 30th June 2011 - Pig Rings - after the breed championships Entry Fees: No Entry Fee will be payable and no premium will be awarded in this section. Prizes: 1st £15, 2nd £10, 3rd £5. Conditions: (i) The comformation of the animal will not be taken into account. (ii) No boars to be shown. (iii) All pigs must be the property of an exhibitor entering the breed classes at the Show. (iv) An adult handler of the pig must accompany the young handler to and from the pig building and remain at the ringside during competition. (v) A Grand Final for Young Handlers will be held at the Hatfield County Show in August. At the Final, their will be two judges. TheYoung Handlers will be tested on their ability to control and display their pigs. There will be practical tests to encourage Young Pig Keepers to identify good and bad points in a pig and they will also be asked to demonstrate their knowledge or pedigree pig keeping and showing. At the Grand Final Rosettes and Prize Cards will be awarded Senior and Intermediate Champions will receive £50 and a Trophy with Reserve Champions receiving £25. The Junior Champion will receive £40 and a Trophy with Reserve Champions receiving £20. All Novice competitors will receive a goodby bag with the Novice Champion receiving £10 and a Trophy. All Young Handlers attending the final must be members of the BPA Young Members Club. There are two memberships available.
