The winners of the Junior Handling Classes will be eligible to take part in the RBST Young Shepherd Competition 2017. If the Class winner has already qualified the next highest placed competitor not previously qualified can go forward. The Grand Final for the RBST Young Shepherd Competition will be held at the Royal County of Berkshire Show on Sunday 17 September 2017 at the Newbury Showground. Classes for the following age groups will be judged: 8 - 12 years and 13 - 16 years. The Junior Young Shepherd of the Year will win the Outlane Trophy and the Senior Young Shepherd of the Year will win the Harrison Challenge Trophy. The winners from each class will then compete for the overall Young Shepherd of the Year. The winner will receive £50 and the Championship Rosette, and the Reserve £25 and Reserve Champion Rosette. Handlers must show a rare of native breed at the final. If the handler does not have a rare or native breed the RBST will provide one. Sheep classes at the Royal County of Berkshire Show are offered to both Maedi Visna Non-Accredited and Accredited sheep. |
