SHEEP GENERAL CONDITIONS FOR SHEEP EXHIBITORS Please also see Show Regulations at the back of the Prize Schedule 1. Accommodation MV Accredited and Non Scheme sheep will be housed in an open sided marquee. All entries in one breed and one ownership will be accommodated in adjoining pens where possible. 2. Arrival and Departure - IMPORTANT INFORMATION. All sheep should arrive on Tuesday 25th June up until 20.30hrs They may depart after 16.30hrs on Thursday 27th June. All sheep must be identified in accordance with current legal requirements and accompanied by correct and current movement documentation. The Showground Holding Number is 28/207/8000-01 Please Note: Judging times may be subject to alteration dependant upon class entries. It is proposed that classes will commence at 08.00hrs Wednesday 26th June 2013 dependant on ring space and breed entries. Should you wish to enter more than one breed of sheep, please note that it is your responsibility to supply a handler as ring timings may conflict. 3. Sheep and Goat Health Scheme Entries in the Suffolk, Oxford Down, Hampshire Down, Texel, Charollais, and AOPB (Continental) sheep sections will be restricted to animals which have achieved MV Accredited status in accordance with the Sheep and Goat Health Scheme. Segregated accommodation will be provided for all animals of MV Accredited status, provided notice of such status is given on the entry form, and a photocopy of the current SAC Certificate of Status is forwarded with your entries as confirmation. The green Certificate of Status, listing details of the animals being entered MUST accompany your animals to the Show and be handed in on arrival at the entrance to the Showground, otherwise you will not be permitted to unload any sheep in the Maedi Visna accredited area. Qualifying and non-scheme sheep will not be segregated. Scrapie Segregation No segregation for Scrapie Monitored Negative Sheep is required providing all entries are (a) non pregnant and (b) have not lambed within 30 days of the Show, and (c) not involved in artificial breeding procedures such as out of season lambing. All Dorset Horn and Polled Dorset sheep must be accompanied by a certificate declaring that the above conditions are complied with. 4. Health and Safety Regulations at Agricultural Shows - a) Exhibitors and stockpersons should be aware of their obligations to the safety of the general public all times whilst on the Showground and must comply with any instructions from Officials, Stewards or any signage. b) Electrical Safety - Any exhibitor who brings electrical equipment to the Showground must ensure that it is in good order and has been inspected and tested, within the past 6 months, by a competent electrician, and has a label attached to it, giving the date of test and name of person carrying out the test. The use of sub-standard equipment is strictly forbidden. c) Animals must be under the same registered owner at the time of entry and Show days. d) All lambs must have been born in the year of the Show except where stated otherwise in the breed section conditions. e) Current legislation requires that animals must have sufficient tail retained to cover the vulva of the female sheep and the anus of the male sheep. Entries for the Royal Norfolk Show are liable to be inspected in the lines. Any animals which do not comply with the aforementioned regulation will not be eligible to be judged and no refund of money will be forthcoming. f) The use of artificial colouring on the face, ears or legs, or the use of any means designed to deceive the judge shall be dealt with at the judges discretion. 5. Welfare of Livestock The Welfare of Livestock (Prohibited Operations) Regulations 1982 require sheep to be docked so that the remaining tail is sufficiently long to cover the vulva of female and the anus of male sheep. Inspections by Veterinary Officers will be made of sheep entered at the Show, and any which do not comply with these regulations will be disqualified. This ruling will not apply to imported animals which had been docked before import. 6. Class Entries. All sections must have a minimum of three different flocks represented or may be subject to amalgamation within another section. Classes may be amalgamated at the discretion of the Steward if insufficient entries are forward. Entries Close Date - 4th April. Late entries will NOT be accepted and entries in all sections will be subject to space, accommodation and availability. 7. Insurance. Please note that it is the responsibility of each owner to ensure that all animals are fully covered by insurance and that they are fully Show trained prior to arrival at the Showground. All animals to remain penned during the Show period.
